What an incredible experience to see "The Cup" the Madigan Chronicles #4 Winner of Women's--Fantasy in the Spring 2023 The BookFest Awards, on the Nasdaq board on Times Square!!!
Feeling lucky and grateful to have been there, celebrating with other winners.
I'm aware I'm two days late to my regular solstice post, but I didn't bring my laptop, as I knew I would be busy enjoying this to the fullest.
The next day, I wrote this on my phone;
It’s strange to be in NYC for the summer solstice. Sitting in Central Park watching the birds cleaning up the scraps people leave behind. The chattering of birds and people, competing for attention. I love it that parks get used. From little kids getting baseball lessons to yoga classes and endless people walking their dogs.
I’m basking in the after glow of an extra-ordinary day. On June 20th “The Cup” was in a promo on the Nasdaq board on Times Square. It’s hard to describe the feeling of seeing your book towering above you. Such joy. Feeling extremely fortunate. As you know I love to write about the balance of things. The Universe decided to balance me out too! I fell and hurt my knee and limped around NYC. This couldn’t stop my happiness.
The year has been flown by so far and I’m currently writing Chapter 6 of Book 5 “The Queen of Fairy,” it’s exciting to see story lines fall into place. It's always hard when you reach the last chapters, as by now I know where it is going and I'm eager to get it on the page. However, I need to pace myself and take the time to write it all out, instead of rushing it.
The Madigan Chronicles received some other recognition. Which is always wonderful!
The one that tickled me the most is that “Lucy” got Best Villain in the spring 2023 Outstanding Creator Awards. They really expressed what I try to achieve with her.
“Lucy may be our favorite villain so far this year. She is simultaneously despicable yet relatable. We loved to hate her. We hated to love her.” —excerpt from review Outstanding Creator Awards of “The Dagger” The Madigan Chronicles #1
"The Dagger" and "The Magical Tarot Deck" were winners in the Outstanding Creator Awards.
"The Wand" won a Pinnacle Achievement Award that I somehow missed last year!
"The Cup" was a finalist in The Readers' Choice Book Awards, and honorable mention in the Los Angeles Book Festival & the London Book Festival! For the full list and details click here to visit my news section .
Summer has arrived in Ireland. Lots of tourists, and everything is blooming. I'm enjoying long walks with the dogs, and love my garden. Keeping it brief, it's back to writing for me. Excited about the new installment of the Madigan Chronicles, there's still a lot of work to do before it will come out. But I'm having lots of fun with it already. Can't wait to share it with all of you.
Happy belated solstice, and enjoy the summer!
